The conductor used in the dry type air core reactor is a custom designed and produced wire or cable. The conductor size and insulation type is specifically designed according to the customers' specifications. This ability ensures maximum flexibility in design and manufacturing which in turn ensures optimal overall performance of the final product.
This product uses epoxy impregnated fiber glass package structure to encapsulate the conductor. The combination of horizontal and vertical fiber glass package structure achieves a high mechanical strength which ensures reduced vibration of the reactor. Using low rate water absorption epoxy curing agent to improve the mechanical strength of dry type air core reactor and the glass transition temperature of the package, ensures that the reactor will maintain its high mechanical strength under the permitted operating temperature.
The cable insulation of this product is custom designed to strengthen the integrity of the coil, minimize turn to turn voltage stress levels, prevent any moisture ingress and improve the overall reliability of insulation system of the reactor.
All current carrying components of this product are of aluminum construction. The individual conductors are crimped and welded together. All conductor terminations are then welded to the aluminum bus bars which from the top and bottom spider arms of the reactor. The axial voltage across the terminals is uniformly distributed and the radial actual voltage is essentially zero.
In order to reduce the loss of the reactor, various cable specifications are designed which use special materials and manufacturing processes. A well designed low loss reactor will operate at a low temperature rise and therefore allow for overload capacity and ensure long service life.
This product can be provided with the appropriate steel or fiberglass support structure required to raise the reactor above ground for human safety clearances while providing the proper magnetic clearance between reactor and ground.
This product uses a custom engineered support structure. The special reinforced structure does not significantly increase the overall weight but is able to reduce dimensions and number of insulators required to meet the specification.
