In addition to the using of corrosion-resistant materials with high cost, usually corrosion protection means include electrochemical corrosion protection and coating method. Even with the coating protection, corrosion caused by coating defects is difficult to avoid. Therefore additional corrosion protection measures must be supplemented with. Because electrochemical protection method is rather complicated, the investment cost and maintenance cost is relative high. Therefore for small metal containers and apparatus, especially in civilian areas, the main method of electrochemical protection -- cathodic protection systems are used less now. Cathodic protection includes two types: Sacrificial anode and impressed current protection.

Based on technical status of electronic components and precious metal alloy technology in China, we have developed the electronic anode anticorrosion systems with impressed current, which cost much lower than similar products in industrialized countries. They are mainly used in civilian areas for steel container, especially the various water storage tanks, including the widely used electric water heaters and solar water heaters.

Through this system, the service life of container can be greatly extended without maintenance cost. The whole system has a long service life, even if decades. The system has overcome the disadvantages of sacrificial anode. Its auxiliary anode is insoluble and does not consume itself. By the reaction it does not produce decomposition and no pollution to environment. In addition to, it can reduce the scaling problem on metal surface and is beneficial to human health.

The system is composed of a potential adapter, an auxiliary electrode made from noble metal alloy with special rare metal oxides, electrical and metal connection components.

According to the different volume of water storage tanks, the required impressed currents for cathodic protection are different. We can provide two kinds of potentiostat adapter with different nominal current (50mA--100mA) and auxiliary electrode with different length (200 to 800 mm). Their combinations can meet the different corrosion protection requirement of water storage tank from 50 to 3500 litres, such as water heaters, as well as the small boiler, roof tanks. etc.

For water heater industry, according to the different needs of users, we can provide corresponding installation modes. For producers of OEM applications, we can provide a circuit plate and a built-in potential adapter. For other water heater models and for the retrofitting of water heaters, plug-in potentiostat adapter is suitable to the assembly. In addition, according to the original magnesium rod installation way of retrofitting water heater, sleeve installation and insulated-hole installation method are possible. All necessary accessories related to two installation methods can be supplied.
