Fortune Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was established in 1981 in Kaohsiung. Shortly after founding, one of its major products, Bronze Ball Valve, was awarded U.L. (U.S.A) certification in 1982, the first ever in Taiwan to achieve such distinction. In 1985, Fortune's headquarters moved to Taipei following the reorganization of its Board of Directors.

In the next 18 years till now, Fortune has followed three strategic directions that bring the company to its current status: product diversification, quality improvement and capacity enlargement. To achieve these goals, Fortune began manufacturing stainless steel and carbon steel products, won a series of quality certificates, and built a new factory in Taoyuang.

To financially support these strategic moves, Fortune had successfully received authorization from the Securities & Exchange Commission to undertake an IPO in 1989 to dramatically increase ITS capital.

To sustain its strategic goals in products and capacity, Fortune decided to enter a join venture in 1992 with Dalian High Pressure Valve Factory in Dalian, China., establishing Dalian Fortune Corp for the manufacturing of investment casting products. In 1996 FORTUNE established another company in China,
Fortune Valve (Dalian) Co., Ltd., for the manufacturing of valve products.

Fortune has built yet another valve factory in Yantai, Shandong Pronvince, China, in 1999 to further expand its capacity. In Taiwan, the implementation of an advanced production system, Automated Molding Machine, has been completed at the Kaohsiung factory in April and its operation has considerably improved the production efficiency. In the same month, Fortune Valve (Dalian) Co., Ltd was awarded ISO 9002 by LRQA (Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Limited) for the manufacture of ball valves.

By 1999, the capital of the company has increased to thirty times of the initial capital at its foundation in 1981.
