Functions and Role of the College.
The National Defense University, which is under the immediate leadership of the Central Military Commission, is the highest institution of military education in the People's Republic of China. NDU is located in Beijing, capital of China. The College of Defense Studies (CDS), which is a part of the NDU, is CPLA's top level of foreign training. CDS's main task is to train foreign senior officers, civilian officials and some Chinese officers, and to conduct international exchanges and academic discussions in the domain of defense security.
Incumbent Leadership and Organization
Commandant, Major General Zhang Yingli: In charge of overall work of the college, mainly responsible for teaching, foreign affairs management, logistics and administration, etc.
Political Commissar, Major General Lu Guozhong: In charge of overall work of the college, mainly responsible for personnel, security, cultural and sports activities, etc.
Deputy Commandant, Senior Colonel Cai Changjie: LED by the commandant and political commissar, mainly in charge of logistics and administration.
Deputy Commandant, Senior Colonel Guo Xinning: LED by the commandant and political commissar, mainly in charge of teaching and foreign affairs.
