The Pharmaceutical R&D Institute of CSPC (Abbreaviated as "Institute"), is also named Shijiazhuang Pharmaceutical Group Zhongqi Pharmaceutical technology (Shijiazhuang) Co., Ltd. It serves for the medium and term research and development strategy of the whole group. The Institute has been granted the State-level Corporation Technology Center, Corporation Post-doctorate Workstation, as well as principal institute of "The Pharmaceutical Formulation Technology Base in Hebei Province".

The institute had been granted more than 90 new drug licenses. Over 30 research achievements had been obtained various rewards in China. NBP (Butylphthalide Soft Capsules) is the first new drug in China for treatment of acute ischemic stroke. The project has been sponsored by National 863 Hi-tech Program.

In recent years, the technical staff have made great progress in the research of antibiotics, anti-tumor and cardiovascular therapeutic areas. Especially in antibiotics research, through unremitting efforts of staff, Biapenem has been the realization of industrial research, the quality of the product assured and product supply capacity has been upgraded.
