In 1980, the company's predecessor, "Jiaojiang Third Glass Factory" was established in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. After 40 years of development, a negative-asset company become to a modern national high-tech enterprise with independent intellectual property rights and core competitiveness. "Jiaojiang Third Glass Factory" began to produce high-refractive-index micro glass beads in 1986, which is the core component of reflective materials. The successful research and development of micro glass beads marks the birth of Chinese reflective materials and creates a new era for Chinese reflective materials to the world.

Since established in 2004, Sunflex developed rapidly. Through integrating production, marketing and research, we established a joint laboratory with the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and established an international joint laboratory with the Aura Optical Systems in Texas. After more than ten years of hard work, glass beads for rainy night road marking, micro-prismatic reflective sheeting and diffusion plate (film) have been successfully developed. Sunflex broken the technological monopoly of foreign companies and reached the international advanced level, fills in the domestic gaps and is popular in domestic and foreign market. Right now Sunflex is not only the earliest factory whom do the research of high-refractive-index micro glass beads, and largest micro glass beads manufacturer with best quality in China, but also the first production base to massively manufacture glass beads for rainy night road marking.

Sunflex has undertaken National Torch Program, National Key Innovation Foundation, Major Industrialization Project of Jiangxi Province etc. Meanwhile, our corporation has been honored as National Private Scientific and Technological Enterprise Innovation Awards, Provincial Advanced Non State-Owned Corporation, Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Demonstration Enterprise, Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Second Prize, Provincial Patent Award and so on. Sunflex is the president unit of Reflective Materials Industry Branch of Chinese Traffic Enterprise Management Association, the vice president unit of Traffic Engineering Facilities Branch of Chinese Communications and Transportation Association, participate in the work of the national standard revision.
