China National Chemical Information Centre Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CNIC") was established in 1992 through the merger of the former Ministry of Chemical Industry's Institute of Scientific and Technical Information (founded in 1959) and the former Ministry of Chemical Industry's Economic Information Centre (founded in 1984). It is a national-level industry information research institution. After more than 60 years of development, CNIC has become a prestigious information consulting and service institution in China's chemical industry.

It has established several institutions, including the Chemical Branch of the National Engineering Technology Library, the National Chemical International Exhibition and Exchange Center, the Competitive Intelligence Research Institute, the Chemical Risk Assessment and Experimental Base, the National Chemical Energy Conservation (Emission Reduction) Center, the China Petrochemical Circular Economy Research Institute, and the Pesticide Economic and Technical Center. CNIC undertakes numerous national key projects from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Commerce.
